This country crooner from South Texas has ruffled a few feathers in the country world and reawakened the storytelling delight that was the foundation of the country genre.
She’s got a way of turning cliches on their heads and re-inventing their meaning. Her lyrics question American staples while encouraging people to make their own traditions (i.e. “Silver Lining” and “Merry Go ‘Round”). And her voice is pretty sweet to boot.
