Looking For a Juice Cleanse?

Hey hey hey!

Let me start by saying, this blog post will be about my experience with a juice cleanse I bought. This doesn’t guarantee that your experience will be the same. The company has not hired me to share any information with you. Last but not least please consult your doctor to confirm that doing a cleanse is right for you.
Okay now that we got that out the way. Let me tell you about my cleanse.

I’ve been wanting to do a 3 day juice cleanse for quite some time. But the opportunity to stop eating yummy food never really presented itself.

For example I could eat this yummy taco right here or go on a juice cleanse. Tacos always won.

So when I found out that I had to get my wisdom teeth removed. I thought to myself this would be the perfect time! I can’t eat anyway.

Another internal battle I was having was should I buy the produce and juice it myself or buy should I buy pre-made juices. There are benefits to both. I decided if I was going to do a juice cleanse, I wanted to maximize all the nutritional benefits.

I knew the fresher the juice the more beneficial it would be. However I knew I was too lazy to buy all the fresh produce and juice it myself because I was having surgery.

So I started roaming the internet.

My requirements were:

  • No added sugar
  • 100% plant based
  • 100% raw
  • No GMO
  • Under $200

Eventually I stumbled upon RawGeneration.

Not only did they check off my list, they also had a high protein plant based cleanse.

When I brought my the protein cleanse RawGeneration was(and still is)having a sale for 70% off any cleanse.

I brought two 3-day cleanses $60 each + $38.30 for shipping.I ordered on a Thursday the juices came on a Saturday. They came frozen and I immediately put them into my freezer.

RawGeneration provides great instruction on how to preserve your juices and perform the cleanse so no need for me to dive into that. But I had a throughly enjoyable experience using their product. All the juices were yummy ( I should preface that by saying that I’m used to eating fruits and veggies).

My favorite was:And my boyfriend, bless his heart decided to do the cleanse with me, his favorite was: This was a close second for both of us: And the juices that we thought were going to be gross but were surprisingly tasty: The boyfriend and I survived the cleanse. We both had craving here and there but never really felt hungry.

As for wisdom teeth extraction. I survived that too. I had no problems taking my med, no nausea, and no pain. Now that I’m done with the cleanse I’m exploring all my mushy food options.

Now go be great 😉

lets talk hair

For those of you who didn’t know, me and my fellow bloggers are a part of the “natural hair” world and have been for quite some time. Although we tend to wear our hair straight, we are all for embracing our natural curls and are constantly in search of natural hair styles that fit our personalities and lifestyles. Now that summer is approaching it’s getting harder and harder to keep our curly strand straight.

So when Kattsmeeow came across the Anthony Dickey method I was so excited to try it out.

Anthony is all about curly girls embracing their natural texture. No need for a twist out or braid out to achieve curls. He has a product line called Hair Rules that works for all hair textures and has tons of natural oils.

These two videos show his very simple method.

Step 1: Wash hair with a sudsy free and sulfate free creamy shampoo making sure to finger detangle as you go along.

Step 2: Apply a creamy conditioner and A LOT of it!!!!!! Don’t forget to finger detangle in this step too.

Step 3: The curls you see with the conditioner are the curls you are trying to preserve. While the hair is soaking wet apply the styling product, make sure that you also use A LOT of product. Really saturate your hair with your styling product then add some water on top of the product.

Step 4: Let your hair dry and do not manipulate your curls until it’s totally dry. Using a hooded drier or a diffuser is optional but from my personal experience I think this step is important if you want to retain length.

Here are some pictures from my experience and the products I used. This method is about revealing your true texture, keeping your hair soft, manageable and moisturized. I let my hair air dry instead of sitting under a drier so I did experience shrinkage, but my hair felts so soft and I saw all my beautiful curls!

This will be my go to method if I want to wear my hair curly this summer.

Feel free to leave a comment below if you have tried this method. We would love for you to share your results with us, especially if you were able to retain length.

How to fix a broken nail before its too late

Do you have weak or brittle nails that are constantly tearing at the edges as soon as they start to gain a little length? I do, At least I do now that I’ve had to remove my overlay for good. In a mission to preserve every millimeter of length possible and to keep from having nubby nails , I’ve discovered a pretty awesome way to repair a natural nail before it’s rips off completely, and that lasts long enough to grow your nail out. All you need is a tea bag and some superglue.

1. remove any nail polish from the broken nail, careful not to snag it further on the cotton ball

2. trim or file the nail a little shorter to increase its survival strength. Shorter nails get knocked and nicked less

3. empty the tea bag and cut a strip long enough to cover across the entire nail from about midway down, leaving just a small amount overhanging the tip

4. Cover the tear and the tip of the nail with a thin layer of superglue and immediately cover with the tea bag strip.

5. once the tip is adhered smooth a little more glue on the dry paper above the nail

6. Next putting just a bit of glue on the underside of you nail tip, smooth down the overhanging paper to beneath your nail

7. when it’s completely dry and hardened, file down any up smooth edges just a little . The tea paper is very transparent and should be minimally detectable if applied correctly

8. Finish with one or two coats of strengthening nail polish , and then color or leave clear.

I love how strong this makes my nails feel.  no more baldy finger tips just because of one wrong move.

#NoFilter : Clear Skin Regimen

If you have combination skin like me , finding a skin care routine that tones down that shiny forehead without drying out the rest of your face can be hard. I’ve found that this combination of products is killer at keeping your skin balanced and moisturized as well as fighting the occasional breakout.

charcoal scrubUse daily: wash with Garnier Clean Plus blackhead eliminating scrub (with charcoal)  – Immediately I saw oil control results with this product lasting all day. Then after using this scrub for about week I noticed a few pesky dark marks fading. The charcoal works magic purifying your skin and is a mild enough  exfoliator to use daily without irritating it.

Use weekly or as needed: Clean & Clear Continuous Control Acne acne cleanserClenser (with benzoyl peroxide). I prefer products with saylic acid for everyday use and benzoyl peroxide for occasional spot treatments. Massage a dab onto your problem area as soon as you notice it- in the AM and again before bed, let sit for a few minutes then rinse off. Pimple should be gone in 1-2 days.

vita gelDaily on oily T-Zone (forehead!!): Gel Moisturizers reduce any appearance of oil  and leave skin looking fresh and balanced. They’re perfect for wearing alone or under makeup, especially as the weather warms up. I interchangeably use Deja Vu Dead Sea Minerals Vita Gel and  Shisheido Pureness Moisturizing Gel Cream. They’re both light weight and absorb quickly. Also try Garnier Moisture Rescue Refresh Gel Cream ($8)

Daily on normal and dry areas: use your favorite cream base radiance day creammoisturize to soothe skin that easily dries out. You know that tight face feeling you get as soon as the water evaporates off you face after you wash it ugh! Mine is Burt’s Bees Radiance Day Cream which moisturizes without being heavy or greasy.

oil absorbing

On Weekends right before makeup: or just on a excess oily areas, Clean & Clear Advantage Oil Absorbing Cream Cleanser is pretty much a supernatural powder cream that soaks oil up like a mop. Another great tool for beating shiny foreheads and keeping them from stealing all the shine (no pun intended) in your weekends pics after a carefully applied makeup job starts to wear off.

Biweekly : mix it up with new and different facial masks, both face maskhomemade and store bought. I need a mask here and there especially after a heavy makeup weekend where I wasn’t so great about washing off my face before bed (shame). I’ll be sure to post about some of my favs in the future.
